Prof. H. Ahmad Syarifuddin Natabaya, S.H., LL.M. (3 Maret 1942 – 10 Juli 2019) adalah Guru Besar Ilmu Hukum di Universitas Sriwijaya, Sumatera Selatan dan Hakim Konstitusi periode 2003-2008.[1] Natabaya pernah mengatakan bahwa seorang hakim konstitusi harus berintegritas tinggi, profesional dan tidak tercela.[2]

Natabaya menjadi salah satu dari 9 hakim konstitusi Mahkamah Konstitusi RI yang dilantik Presiden RI pada masa itu, Megawati Soekarnoputri. Sebagai salah satu organ penting negara, ia memiliki tantangan yang harus dihadapi oleh hakim konstitusi yaitu ia dituntut untuk selalu mampu melakukan interpretasi dan konstruksi terhadap dasar Negara Republik Indonesia, UUD 1945.[3]

Riwayat pendidikannya adalah S1 Fakultas Hukum Universitas Sriwijaya, Palembang dan S2 Indiana University School of Law, USA (1981).[1]

Sebelum meraih gelar sarjana hukum dari FH Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri), Palembang (1967), sejak 1964 kala masih mahasiswa, ia telah menjadi pengajar di almamaternya. Prestasi ini sudah tentu berkat kemampuannya. sebagai penuntut ilmu yang gigih, ia meneruskan studinya pada program master di luar negeri. Tidak lama kemudian gelar L.L.M. berhasil diraih oleh suami Artini Nawawi ini dari Indiana University School of Law Blumington, USA, pada 1980. Pendidikan dan pelatihan sering pula ia ikuti. Ia pernah mengikuti Intersip Training in International Law Unpad (1973-1974). Bapak dua anak ini, yaitu Ayudia Utami (1970) dan Andalia Utari (1972), pernah pula mengikuti The Hague Academy of International Law, Belanda (1981). Ia juga sempat mengikuti Academy for Educational Development (Programme of Observation and Analysis of Goveminent Management System and Techniques), Washington, AS (1993). Selama empat tahun (1996-2000), Natabaya mendapat kepercayaan menjadi Kepala Badan Pembinaan Hukum Nasional (BPHN) Departemen Kehakiman dan Hak Asasi Manusia. Pria yang dianugerahi penghargaan Satya Lencana Karya Satya 20 Tahun dan Satya Lencana Karya Satya 30 Tahun ini pernah menjadi staf khusus Menteri Kehakiman dan Hak Asasi Manusia (2002-2003).[1]

Sosok yang hobi olahraga bulutangkis dan bermotto "Never old to learn",[3] ini juga terjun dalam aktivitas organisasi, antara lain HMI, KAMI, dan PERSAHI. Pakar hukum ini ikut membidani lahirnya UU Nomor 24 Tahun 2003 tentang Mahkamah Konstitusi.[1]

Natabaya pernah diminta pendapat dalam rapat Pansus Hak Angket Bank Century DPR, di Gedung MPR/DPR, Jakarta, Senin, 25 Januari 2010.

Ia meninggal dunia pada 10 Juli 2019 pukul 20.05 WIB, di RS Dharmais Jakarta dan dimakamkan keesokan harinya di Taman Makam Pahlawan Kalibata.[4]
