Agni-II

Agni-II (IAST: Agnī "Fire" juga dewa api Veda dalam agama Hindu ), adalah rudal balistik strategis kedua dari keluarga rudal Agni yang dianggap sebagai andalan dari penangkal nuklir strategis berbasis rudal India. Agni-II adalah rudal balistik jarak menengah (MRBM) jarak menengah dengan dua tahap bahan bakar padat dan Post Boost Vehicle (PBV) yang diintegrasikan ke dalam Kendaraan Masuk-Kembali (RV). RV Agni terbuat dari bahan komposit karbon yang ringan dan mampu mempertahankan tekanan termal tinggi, dalam berbagai lintasan. Agni-IIA adalah versi Agni-II yang lebih maju, dengan bahan yang lebih canggih dan lebih ringan, menghasilkan jangkauan yang lebih baik dari sistem operasi. Agni-IIA kemudian berganti nama menjadi Agni-IV menghubungkan kesenjangan antara Agni-II dan Agni-III. Sementara uji pertama Agni-IV pada bulan Desember 2010 gagal, uji terbang kedua pada November 2011 berhasil.^[1]^[2]

Pada 17 Mei 2010, uji coba dilakukan dengan pasukan komando strategis khusus (SSC) dari rudal balistik Agni-II yang berkemampuan nuklir, dengan jangkauan 2.000 kilometer dari Pulau Wheelers di lepas pantai Orissa.^[3]^[4] operated by the 335 Missile Group at Secunderabad using 12 TEL vehicles.^[5]

Agni-II dapat menjangkau seluruh Pakistan dan sebagian besar Cina selatan dan tenggara.^[6]
