音樂生涯

早期

凱蕾在加州馬里布長大，父親肯恩·凱蕾曾是佛利伍麥克樂團的專輯製作人，凱蕾從小就常和鼓手米克·佛利伍、貝斯手約翰·麥維在一起。11歲那年聽到了藍調女伶蘿倫·希爾的一曲《Killing Me Softly》之後，凱蕾開始學著唱歌。

童時接受過古典鋼琴訓練的蔻比，在19歲那年開始學習彈奏吉他，並在上完第一堂吉他課後，就立刻寫下了一首歌。在創作的過程中，蔻比結識了麥寇·布魯（Mikal Blue）和創作歌手傑森·瑞夫斯（Jason Reeves），他們成了凱蕾十分重要的合作對象。「這些歌總是藏在我的內心深處，」蔻比說，「常常在家無聊發呆的時候，就會有好旋律冒出來；如果遇到瓶頸了，我就去找麥寇或傑森。跟自己信任的人討論想法總是會讓創意源源不絕的出現[1]。」

在完成了一些作品後，對電腦一竅不通的凱蕾在朋友們的幫助下於MySpace架設了一個部落格，並放上她的作品供大家欣賞。起初並沒有太大的迴響，一直到放上了歌曲《陽光微笑》（Bubbly）後，吸引了超過數千萬的點播次數[2]，並使凱蕾一躍成為未簽約歌手排行榜的冠軍，而且一佔就是四個月[3]，滾石雜誌並給出了「一個不知名的歌手，帶給整個樂壇希望」的高評價。

蔻比在MySpace 上的高人氣，讓多家唱片公司前來爭取與凱蕾的唱片合約。最後，凱蕾選擇了環球唱片公司，「大部份唱片公司都說要重新包裝；只有環球給我所有的自由，」凱蕾說道。

2007－2008：《Coco》

2007年7月17日，凱蕾發行首張唱片《Coco》，專輯名取自蔻比的小名；凱蕾的首張專輯發行首周便空降美國告示牌排行榜前五名、數位專輯榜冠軍，成為繼菲姬之後，近幾年來成績最好的女新人[1]。

蔻比在專輯發表、普遍獲得不錯的評價後，開始與咕咕娃合唱團、生命之屋合唱團、約翰·梅爾等歌手進行巡迴演出。2008年5月，與傑森·瑪耶茲合唱了歌曲《Lucky》，收錄在傑森的專輯《活出自我》（We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things）中[4]。同月，蔻比在迪士尼發行的《DisneyMania 6》中，翻唱了小美人魚中歌曲《Kiss the Girl》[5]。2008年8月，蔻比·凱蕾為2008年北京奧運發行單曲《Somethin' Special》，並為美國市場推出《The Little Thing》的音樂錄影帶[6]。蔻比並與席勒詩篇（Schiller）合作了歌曲《You》，同時也在音樂錄影帶中演出，另外在璜斯新專輯《瞬間永恆》的歌曲《離歌》中獻聲。泰勒絲在2008年11月11日發行的新專輯《無懼的愛》也收入兩人的合唱曲《Breathe》。2008年10月，〈Midnight Bottle〉被收錄在巴西肥皂劇《Três Irmãs》原聲帶中在巴西廣播中高度播放。

2007年至2008年間，凱蕾並舉行了個人巡迴演唱會「Coco Tour」。

2009至今：《蛻變》

蔻比第二張專輯《蛻變》在2009年8月21日於德國發行，24日於美國及歐洲其他地區發行。新作品中，蔻比與世界知名吉他手大衛·貝克（David Becker）合作兩首歌曲。貝克曾與蔻比父親多次合作。[7]《蛻變》第一支單曲《Fallin' for You》在6月29日推出。8月4日，iTunes開始預購新專輯，並加贈歌曲《Hold Your Head High》和雷鬼版《Begin Again》。在專輯創作過程中，蔻比在創作上遇到阻礙，因此與好友凱拉·狄奧果笛、傑森·瑞夫斯前往夏威夷三個禮拜。他們在海灘小屋中創作有關愛情與分手的歌曲。蔻比還計畫發行兩首聖誕歌曲《Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas》和《Merry Christmas, Baby》。她也與單曲《Mistletoe》的合作夥伴史黛西·布魯（Stacy Blue）計畫創作新的聖誕歌曲。[8]蔻比在其中一期《阿奇漫畫（英语：Archie Comics）》中以客串明星現身。

根據官方網站的表示，蔻比目前在創作並錄製第三張專輯。她的父親也再度參與製作此張專輯並與吉他手大衛‧貝克合作。2010年9月12日於Pechanga Resort & Casino舉辦的演唱會上，蔻比宣布她的第三張專輯正處於錄製階段，並將於2011年2月發行。同時，蔻比也首次公開演唱專輯內收錄的五首歌。歌名及其中的故事如下：

  • I Do - 蔻比說她用這首歌開了個小玩笑，但很難解釋為何如此。婚姻為歌中的主題。
  • Dream Life - 蔻比的朋友們總是愛談這夢想中的生活，那就是整天待在游泳池旁，喝著雞尾酒。
  • Shadow - 關於蔻比的一個女性朋友。這個女孩和同一個男孩交往了一年，但那個男孩始終不承認她是女朋友。蔻比認為這首歌是那個女孩應向對方所說的話。
  • Before I Let You Go - 蔻比表示她寫下這首歌時，她正對某些人感到憤怒。她認為這些人在離去前，必須先改變他們的態度。
  • Let's Make It Rain - 這首歌於2009年夏天創作完成。關於人們該做自己想做的事而不必在意他人的眼光。
  • What If - 為電影「給茱麗葉的信」中的歌曲，有關一個人幻想著戀愛中的滋味是如何。

私人生活
