NGC 604是位於三角座星系內的一個電離氫區，它是威廉·赫歇爾在1784年9月11日發現的。它是本星系團最大的電離氫區之一，距離地球約270萬光年，最長處的直徑約1,500光年（460秒差距），可見部分的大小是獵戶座大星雲的40倍，亮度則是6,300倍。如果在相同的距離上，它會如同金星般的明亮。像所有的發射星雲一樣，它的氣體被群聚在中心的大質量恆星電離[4]。這些恆星大約有200顆是O型星和沃夫–瑞葉星，質量是105太陽質量，而年齡大約350萬歲[2]。不同於大麥哲倫星系蜘蛛星雲中心的星團（R136），NGC 604是一個更緊湊，更類似於巨大星協，原型的鱗狀排列星協（Scaled OB Association，SOBA）[5]。

NASA/ESA哈伯太空望遠鏡提供了迄今最清晰的NGC 604的影像。
