Alexa Fluor是美国分子探针公司开发的系列荧光染料，可应用于生物医学研究中对组织、细胞和生物分子等的标记、定位[2]。其激发光和发射光光谱覆盖大部分可见光和部分红外线光谱区域，适用于绝大多数荧光显微镜[3]。

命名

Alexa系列染料的取名自分子探针公司创始人之一Dick Haugland的儿子Alex Haugland。而该公司旗下的另一款荧光染料产品Marina Blue则取名于其女儿Marina。

该系列各染料则主要根据其激发光的最大波长（nm）命名。

产品比较

Alexa系列染料通过化学合成方法在香豆素、氧杂蒽(如荧光素和罗丹明)、青色素等染料中引入磺酸酯基团，使得Alexa染料呈负电性和亲水性[4]，让Alexa具有更好的光学稳定性、发光强度以及pH的适应性。美国生命技术公司收购分子探针公司后拥有相关专利。

第三方机构曾比较AlexaFluor647和Cy5(它们具有类似的波长)对DNA染色的情况[5]，发现Cy5的颜色更为明亮，但是光学稳定性不及Alexa 647。另有研究则发现Alexa染料的染色亮度的光稳定性更好(例如AlexaFluor488 与 Dylight488[6]和 Fluoprobes488 [7]的比较。
