國立臺灣歷史博物館，簡稱臺史博、台史博，基地位於臺南市安南區（原和順寮農場），佔地20公頃，鄰近亞太國際棒球訓練中心，建築物計行政典藏大樓、展示教育大樓、湖畔圖書館各一座。展示內容著重在臺灣歷史，包括多民族長時間與臺灣自然環境互動的歷史。另外也包括臺灣對外關係、臺灣各族群、以及現代化的臺灣等多項展覽主題。

其中行政典藏大樓於2007年完工啟用，全館於2011年10月29日開館，並列為中華民國建國百年系列活動之一。[2]

歷史

  • 1992年：中華民國總統李登輝與臺灣省主席連戰訪視臺灣省立博物館，指示臺灣省政府籌建「臺灣省立歷史博物館」。
  • 1997年9月：臺灣省政府文化處發布「臺灣省立歷史博物館籌備處主任」派令，籌備處主任由臺灣省立博物館館長施明發兼任籌備處主任。
  • 1998年7月：臺灣省政府文化處正式成立「臺灣省立歷史博物館籌備處」，臨時辦公室設於國立臺灣博物館。
  • 1999年10月：配合精省，臺灣省立歷史博物館籌備處改隸行政院文化建設委員會，更名為「國立臺灣歷史博物館籌備處」。
  • 1999年9月：國立臺灣博物館祕書莊維成兼代籌備處主任。
  • 1999年11月：行政院文化建設委員會第三處視覺藝術科科長林正儀接任籌備處主任。
  • 2000年4月：籌備處臨時辦公室從臺博館遷至台北市中正區紹興北街31巷53號行政院農業委員會舊式倉庫，進行舊建築再利用。
  • 2001年4月：國立文化資產保存研究中心籌備處（現文化部文化資產局文化資產保存研究中心）祕書黃武忠接任籌備處主任。
  • 2002年1月：宜蘭縣政府文化局祕書兼蘭陽博物館籌備處主任呂理政接任籌備處主任。
  • 2002年4月：籌備處遷移至台南市安平區國勝路37號4樓（臺南市安平區圖書館）。
  • 2003年底，行政典藏大樓建築工程動工。
  • 2004年10月：臨時辦公室第二期裝修工程申報竣工，籌備處辦公室進駐博物館基地。
  • 2005年，對外營運的展示教育大樓建築工程動工。
  • 2006年10月：文建會主任祕書王壽來兼代籌備處主任。
  • 2007年3月15日︰國立臺灣歷史博物館正式成立，吳密察出任第1位館長。
  • 2007年5月11日：由臨時辦公處喬遷至行政典藏大樓。
  • 2007年5月31日：舉辦喬遷記者會。
  • 2007年5月－6月：舉辦「國立臺灣歷史博物館LOGO徵選活動」，至截止日6月15日共收1082件。經評比後，由張晏瑜的「NMTH LOGO設計」獲得第一名。
  • 2008年8月︰吳密察轉任教國立成功大學台灣文學系，副館長郭碧娥代理館長職務。
  • 2008年10月︰呂理政接任第2任館長。
  • 2011年10月29日：開館。
  • 2012年5月21日：配合文化部成立，改隸文化部。
  • 2016年1月16日：王長華接任第3任館長。
  • 2018年9月25日：林崇熙接任第4任館長。
  • 2020年9月25日︰林崇熙借調期滿、歸建國立雲林科技大學，副館長楊仙妃代理館長職務。
  • 2021年4月1日：張隆志接任第5任館長。
  • 2021年11月8日: 升格為中央三級機構，舉辦揭牌典禮。

展覽

常設展

展出時間：每週二到週日，上午9:00-下午5:00。

常設展「斯土斯民－臺灣的故事」展廳位於展示教育大樓2樓，共1,255坪，長85米、寬40米、挑高12.5米。 展覽主題採用多元詮釋的歷史觀，以歷史時間軸序列，穿越割裂的統治政權，表現臺灣的文化與生活。同時希望能以這塊土地為舞臺，以人為主角，建構臺灣長時間、多族群與自然環境互動的歷程，展現土地與人民的歷史。展覽使用影片、模型、造景、文物等手法，依時代分為「斯土斯民－臺灣的故事」、「早期的居民」、「異文化相遇」、「唐山過臺灣」、「地域社會與多元文化」、「鉅變與新秩序」、「邁向多元民主社會」等7單元，並以跨樓層的雙劇場呈現「展望新世紀」[3]。

常設展介紹參考「斯土斯民－臺灣的故事」臺灣歷史學習資源平臺，是以國立臺灣歷史博物館常設展「斯土斯民－臺灣的故事」為範圍，提供展覽物件、文獻資料、圖像資料、模型、複製品等資訊內容，呈現臺灣通史的知識詮釋。提供觀眾、學校教師、研究學者及一般對臺灣歷史有興趣之大眾，對於臺灣歷史的深度閱讀。
