保罗·马格达利诺和他的学生

保罗·马格达利诺（英語：Paul Magdalino，1948年5月10日—），是圣安德鲁大学的拜占庭史主教沃德洛教授（Bishop Wardlaw Professor）、伊斯坦布尔科奇大学（英语：Koç University）拜占庭史教授、英国国家学术院院士。

他的研究方向主要是拜占庭史：包括6-13世纪拜占庭世界的社会、经济、文化；君士坦丁堡城；拜占庭帝国的预言、科学思想、东正教的形成[1]。他因撰写的研究曼努埃尔一世（1143-1180年在位）时期的拜占庭帝国而闻名， 这部书挑战了拜占庭史家尼基塔斯·霍尼亚提斯对这位皇帝的负面评价。1993年，他因这部作品获得当年的朗西曼奖（英语：Runciman Award）[2]。

生平

马格达利诺就读于牛津大学，1970年获文学学士学位、1976年获哲学博士学位。1977年进入圣安德鲁大学任教，先后任讲师、准教授（Reader），1999年任主教沃德洛（Bishop Wardlaw）拜占庭史教授，2005年起又任伊斯坦布尔科奇大学（英语：Koç University）拜占庭史教授[3]。2002年获选为英国国家学术院院士[4]。
