Nữ thần Nemesis là Nữ thần của sự báo thù và thù hận. Nàng là con của nữ thần bóng đêm Nyx và là anh chị em của các vị thần Moros (Định Mệnh), Oneiroi (giấc mơ), Philotes (tình bạn), Momus (kẻ kết án), Geras (sự già nua, sự lão hóa).

Nguồn gốc

Sự trả thù của thần là một chủ đề chính trong quan điểm thế giới Hy Lạp, cung cấp chủ đề thống nhất về những bi kịch của Sophocles và nhiều tác phẩm văn học khác[1][2] Hesiod viết: "Nyx chết người cũng làm Nemesis đau đớn cho người chết" (Theogony, 223, có lẽ là một đường nội suy). Nemesis xuất hiện trong một hình thức cụ thể hơn trong một đoạn của Cypria sử thi.

Cô là một công lý không thể lay chuyển: của Zeus trong kế hoạch Olympian của sự vật, mặc dù rõ ràng cô tồn tại trước anh ta, vì hình ảnh của cô trông giống như một số nữ thần khác, như Cybele, Rhea, Demeter, và Artemis.[3]

Với tư cách là "Nữ thần Rhamnous", Nemesis được tôn vinh và nằm trong một khu bảo tồn cổ xưa ở khu biệt lập Rhamnous, đông bắc Attica. Ở đó cô ấy là con gái của Oceanus, một dòng sông đại dương bao quanh thế giới. Pausanias lưu ý bức tượng mang tính biểu tượng của mình ở đó. Nó bao gồm một vương miện của stags và Nikes nhỏ và được thực hiện bởi Pheidias sau khi Trận Marathon (490 TCN), crafted từ một khối đá Parian đưa ra bởi Persi overktfident, những người đã có ý định để làm một stela tưởng niệm sau khi chiến thắng mong đợi của họ[4]. Sự thờ cúng của cô có thể bắt nguồn từ Smyrna.
