Sobor — 1) xristianlikda — oliy martabali ruhoniylar toat-ibodat qiladigan yirik xristian ibodatxonasi. Oʻrta asrlarda Soborlar shahar markazidagi asosiy binolardan hisoblanib, gotika, roman uslubida salobatli (tashqi va ichki qiyofasi meʼmoriy jihatdan mukammal) qilib qurilgan (Rimdagi Avliyo Pyotr, Londondagi Avliyo Pavel, Novgorod va Kiyevdagi Sofiya S.lari va boshqa diqqatga sazovor). Toshkentdagi Spase Preobrajensk S. i (1888), Samarqanddagi Pokrovsk S. i (1902) kabilar Vizantiya meʼmorligi taʼsirida ("rus" uslubidagi eklektizm ruhida) qurilgan; 2) XVI—XVII asrlarda Rossiyada eng muhim ishlarni muhokama qilish va hal etish uchun toʻplangan dunyoviy va liniy mansabdor shaxslar yigʻini (mas, Zemstvo Si).
