Mitra — qadimda Hindiston, Eronda bosh xudolardan biri. Mitraga yorugʻlik, pokizalik va haqiqat xudosi sifatida eʼtiqod qilingan. Miloddan avvalgi VI asrdan Mitragaga sigʻinish Kichik Osiyo hamda Frot va Dajla daryolari oraligʻida tarqaldi. Keyinroq Mitraga sigʻiniladigan alohida din — mitraizm paydo boʻldi. Bu din ellinlar orasida, milodiy I asrdan boshlab Rimda, II asrdan butun Rim imperiyasida mashhur edi[1].
