Kvadrupol (lot. quadrum — toʻrtburchak, kvadrat va polos — qutb) — ishoralari musbat va manfiy, miqdor jihatdan bir xil boʻlgan zaryadlarning kvadrat shakl uchlariga ketma-ket joylashishidan tashkil topgan sistema. K. dipol momentlari teng , zaryad ishoralari qarama-qarshi va bir-biridan maʼlum masofada joylashgan ikkita dipol (zaryad) dan iborat. K.ning asosiy harakteristikasi K. momentdir. K. dipol momenti Q=2e/a, bu yerda ye — elektr zaryad, /— dipollar orasidagi masofa, a—dipol oʻlchami. K.dan uzoqlashgan sari, bunday sistemaning elektr maydon kuchlanganligi masofaning toʻrtinchi darajasiga teskari proporsional holda kamayib boradi: £■= I/W. K. moment dipol momenti nolga teng boʻlgan atom sistemalarda, molekulyar birikmalarda hosil boʻladi. K. taʼsir 1/L5 kattalik, dipol taʼsir esa 1/L6 kattalik bilan ifodalanadi. Shuning uchun K. taʼsirda energiya kuchli boʻladi. K. momentning vaqt boʻyicha oʻzgarishi natijasida K. nurlanish vujudga keladi. K. tushunchasi kvant mexanika, yadro fizikasi, elektronika, termodinamikada keng qoʻllanadi.[1]
