Al-Karx yoki shunchaki Karx tarixan Bag'dodning g'arbiy yarmi, Iroqni yoki muqobil ravishda Dajla daryosining Bag'doddan o'tgan g'arbiy sohilining nomidir. Sharqiy qirg'oq al-Rusafa deb nomlanadi. Tarixiy jihatdan al-Karx Abbosiylar xalifaligi davrida xavfsizlik nuqtai nazaridan asosiy dumaloq shahar tashqarisida joylashgan savdo bozori mavjud bo'lgan. U ko'plab eksportlarni ko'rdi va savdogarlar va hunarmandlar uchun asosiy ish joyi edi.
