Elmidae (inglizcha: riffle beetles)— Byrrhoidea katta oilasiga mansub qo‘ng‘izlar oilasi. Ushbu oila 1830-yilda John Curtis tomonidan tavsiflangan[1][2][3][4].
Elmidae oilasiga mansub qo‘ng‘izlarning ham kattalari, ham lichinkalari asosan suvda yashaydi. Ular tez oqimli, sayoz daryolar va soylarning toshlari ostida uchraydi hamda asosan suvo‘tlar va bioqatlamlar bilan oziqlanadi.
Elmidae oilasi tarkibida 150 dan ortiq urug‘ va 1 500 dan ziyod tavsiflangan tur mavjud. Ushbu guruhning eng qadimgi ma’lum vakili Cretohypsilara bo‘lib, u Kenomaniy davriga oid Birma qahrabosida topilgan[5][6].
