Dixloretan, etilenxlorid, CH2Cl—CH2Cl — chuchmal hidli rangsiz suyuklik, undan xloroform hidi keladi. Mol. m. 98,97. Qaynash temperaturasi 83,5°, zichligi 1,253 g/sm3. Suvda eri-maydi, spirt va efirda eriydi. Suv bilan azeotrop aralashma (qaynash temperaturasi 71,6°; tarkibi 91,8% D. va 8,2% H2O) hosil qiladi. D. sanoatda xlor bilan etilendan olinadi. D. texnikada ekstraksiya jarayonlarida, gazmollarni tozalashda, erituvchi sifatida, lok-boʻyoq sanoatida, koʻpgina organik birikmalar sintezida, antidetonator aralashmalari tayyorlashda, fumigant sifatida, distillashda va b. maqsadlarda qoʻllanadi.
