Ajaccio — U Fransuz kommunasini,Korse-dyu-Suddepartamentining prefekturasini va Collectivité territoriale de Korsebosh idorasini Korsika poytaxti hisoblanadi. Bu oroldagi eng yirik aholi punkti hamdir. Ajaccio Korsika orolining g'arbiy sohilida, Marseldan janubi-sharqda 210 dengiz mili (390 km) uzoqlikdajoylashgan.Asl shahar o'rta asrlarda tanazzulga yuz tutdi, ammo genuyaliklar 1492 yilda oldingi turar-joy janubida qal'a qurganlaridan keyin yana gullab-yashnadi . 1755 yilda Korsika Respublikasi e'lon qilingandan so'ng , genuyaliklar orolni frantsuzlar o'z nazoratiga olguncha bir nechta qal'alarni, shu jumladan Ajaccioni ham ushlab turishdi[1].
