У деяких діалектах ці поняття позначаються загальним «вугол»[3][4], «угол»[5] (псевдорос., д.-рус. угълъ < прасл. *ǫgъlъ, відоме в усіх слов'янських мовах: пол. węgieł, чеськ. uhel, словац. uhol, болг. ъгъл).
