Авеню

Авеню (англ. avenue, фр. avenue, ісп. і порт. avenida, серб. і хорв. avenija) — використовуваний у деяких країнах термін, що позначає вулицю великої ширини, зазвичай обсаджену деревами по обидва боки.[1] Авеню є у Великій Британії, США, Канаді, Франції, франкомовній Швейцарії, Іспанії, Аргентині, Колумбії, Перу, Гватемалі, Еквадорі, Чилі, Венесуелі, Бразилії[джерело?].

Етимологія: французьке avenue, від старофранцузького avenue — прибуття, від латинського advenire — приходити до чогось.[2]

Авеню може бути аналогом алеї або проспекту.

Крім того, у багатьох містах США з прямокутною сіткою вулиць словом авеню позначаються вулиці, що ідуть в одному з двох напрямків, на противагу стріт.
