Tıbbi cihaz

Tıbbi cihaz, üreticisi tarafından özellikle teşhis veya terapötik amaçlı kullanılmak üzere tasarlanan ve doğru uygulanması için gerekli olan yazılım da dahil olmak üzere, tek başına veya kombinasyon halinde kullanılan herhangi bir cihaz, alet, implant, tıbbi yazılım, materyal veya başka bir üründür.[1] Farklı tıp dallarında tıbbi aletler kimyasal madde ve ilaçlar ile hastalarda tanı, ilk yardım, anamnez, fizik muayene, tedavi, aşılama, cerrahi, tıbbi test, tıbbi görüntüleme, tıbbi prosedürler yapılmasında uygulanır. Tıbbi cihazlar hastane, ambulans, açık alanda kullanılabilir.[2][3]

2006 yılı itibari ile dünya tıbbî cihaz pazarı 209 milyar dolardır.[4]
