Çift Modlu Nükleer Termal Roketi

Nükleer tahrik, ana güç kaynağı olarak bir tür nükleer reaksiyon kullanan bir tahrik sistemidir. Tahrik için nükleer madde kullanma fikri 20. yüzyılın başlarına kadar uzanmaktadır. 1903'te radyoaktif maddelerin motorlu taşıtlar, uçakları ve tekneleri hareket ettirmesi için uygun bir yakıt olabileceği varsayıldı.[1] H. G. Wells, 1914 tarihli The World Set Free adlı kurgu eserinde bu fikri ele aldı.[2]

Nükleer tahrik, günümüzde bazı denizaltı, gemi ve uçaklarda kullanılmaktadır.
