John Richard Deacon, (d. 19 Ağustos 1951, Oadby Leicester, İngiltere) Rock grubu Queen'in bas gitaristi. John Deacon ilk olarak Oadby Infants' School'a, ardından Gartree High School ve Beauchamp Grammar School'a ve sonra da elektronik mühendisliği okumak için Londra'daki Chelsea College'a gitmiştir.

John Deacon'ın dersleriyle ilgilenmesine karşın müziğe karşı daha eğilimliydi. On dört yaşında ilk grubu olan Opposition'da yer almıştır. Şubat 1971'de Freddie Mercury, Brian May ve Roger Taylor tarafından keşfedilerek kendisinden gruplarına katılması istenmiştir. John Deacon grubu katılmış ve Queen resmen kurulmuştur.

John Deacon, Queen grubundaki en pasif eleman gibi gözükse de grubun en ciddi elemanıdır ve bu ciddiyetinden mümkün olduğunca ödün vermemiştir. Gruba verdiği ilk beste Sheer Heart Attack albümündeki Misfire adlı şarkıdır. İlk kırkbeşlik haline getirilen bestesi A Night At The Opera adlı albümdeki You're My Best Friend adlı şarkıdır. The Game albümünde yer alan Another One Bites the Dust adlı şarkı dünya çapında, özellikle ABD'de (burada bir numaraya yükselmiştir.) bir hit haline gelmiştir.

Diğer Queen üyelerinin yaptığı solo albümlerden etkilenen John Deacon 1980'li yıllarda Queen'in albümleri dışında Immortals grubu gibi çeşitli solo projelerde yer almıştır. 1986 yılında Immortals grubu ile "The Biggles" filmi için bestelenen "No Turning Back" adlı parçada bas gitar çalmıştır. Ek olarak çeşitli müzisyenlerin solo albümlerinde konuk müzisyen olarak bas gitar çalmıştır. 1984 yılında Queen davulcusu Roger Taylor'un "Strange Frontier" albümündeki "It's An Illusion" ve "I Cry For You" adlı parçalarda bas gitar çalmıştır. Ayrıca Elton John'un da bazı albümlerinde konuk müzisyen olarak bulunmuştur. Elton John'un 1985 tarihli "Ice On Fire" albümünde "Too Young" adlı şarkıda; 1986 tarihli "Leather Jackets" albümünde ise "Angeline" isimli şarkıda bas gitar çalmıştır. 1987 yılında Anita Dobson'un "Talking Of Love" isimli albümündeki "I Dream Of Christmas" isimli şarkıda bas gitar çalmıştır. 1988 yılında ise Freddie Mercury ve Montserrat Caballe'nin ortak yayınladığı "Barselona" albümünün "How Can I Go On" isimli şarkısında bas gitar çalmıştır. John Deacon, ayrıca Brian May'in 1992 tarihli "Back To The Light" albümündeki "Nothing But Blue" şarkısında bas gitar çalmıştır.

John Deacon Freddie Mercury öldükten sonra son olarak 1995'te Queen'in son stüdyo albümü Made In Heaven ve 1997'de Queen Rocks albümünde yayınlanan No-one But You (Only The Good Die Young isimli şarkı için çalışmıştır. 1997 yılından sonra Queen adına yapılan hiçbir projeye katılmamıştır (ailevi sebepler ve Freddie'nin ölümü yüzünden). Şu anda müzik alanında bir faaliyette bulunmamaktadır.

John Deacon, Queen grubundaki müzik kariyerinde yaptığı "You're My Best Friend", "Spread Your Wings", "Another One Bites The Dust", "Back Chat", "I Want To Break Free", "Friends Will Be Friends" gibi hit olmuş parçalarla anılmaktadır.
