Gıda takviyesi

Hayvanlarda ve insanlarda doğal gıdalara ek olarak kullanılan ve genellikle kullanıcının diyetinde hastalık, yetersiz beslenme gibi sebeplerle görülebilen eksikliklerin giderilmesinde rol oynayan maddelerdir.

Kullanım Alanları

Gıda takviyeleri gerek insanlarda gerek hayvanlarda çeşitli fiziksel ihtiyaçlar doğrultusunda kullanılabilmektedirler.

Hayvanlarda

Zaman zaman hayvanlarda görülebilen hastalıklarda ilaç tedavisine ek olarak, hayvanın genel sağlık durumunun güçlendirilmesi amacıyla kullanılmaktadır. Ayrıca çiftlik hayvanlarının veriminin artırılmasında, örneğin süt ineklerinde daha fazla süt elde etmek için de kullanılmaktadırlar.[1]

İnsanlarda

Çoğu zaman kanser, AIDS gibi kilo ve kas kaybı yaşanan hastalıklarda[2] ya da doğal bazı mineral ve vitamin eksikliklerinde kullanılsalar da, insanlarda en yaygın kulannım alanı vücut geliştirme sporcularında görülmektedir.

Çeşitleri

Vitaminler, yağ yakıcılar, protein ve karbonhidrat takviyeleri, kreatin ve amino asit takviyeleri gibi çeşitli ana gruplar altında incelenebilirler.

Sağlığa olan etkileri

Gıda takviyelerinin özellikle sağlığa olan etkileri çok sayıda bilimsel araştırmaya ve medikal camiada büyük tartışmalara konu olmaktadır. Özellikle reklamlarının yapıldığı kadar etkili olmadıkları konusunda ağırlıklı görüşler olmasının yanı sıra, zaman zaman insan sağlığına zarar veren çeşitli tehlikeli maddelerin de bu tür ürünlerde bulunabildiği geçmişte görülmüştür.[3]
