Depeche Mode, 1980 yılında Basildon'da kurulan İngiliz elektronik müzik grubu. Dave Gahan (vokal ve şarkı yazımına yardım) ve Martin Gore (klavye, gitar, ortak vokal ve ana şarkı yazımı) grubun günümüzdeki üyeleridir.

Depeche Mode, UK Singles Chart'a 54 şarkı ile girmiş ve birçok albümü en çok satanlar listesine girmiştir. Eserleri dünya çapında 100 milyondan fazla satılmıştır.[1][2]

Kuruluş

1980 yılında Composition Of Sound ismiyle Martin L. Gore, Andy Fletcher ve Vince Clarke tarafından kurulmuştur. David 'Dave' Gahan'ın katılmasından sonra aynı zamanda bir Fransız Moda dergisi olan Depeche Mode ismini almışlardır. Kısa bir süre sonra Vince Clarke (Yazoo ve Erasure) gruptan ayrılarak 1982 yılında Alan Wilder gruba dahil oldu. Alan Wilder (Recoil), 1 Haziran 1995 tarihinde gruptan ayrıldı.

80'ler ve 90'lar

80'li yıllarda Synthpop olarak nitelenen türleri gittikçe Rock tarzına doğru kaymıştır. David Gahan gelmiş geçmiş en iyi erkek vokaller arasında sayılmaktadır. Birçok müzisyen tarafından şarkıları coverlanan grup efsanevi gruplar arasında yer almaktadır.

2000'ler

Avrupa Turnesi kapsamında Abdi İpekçi Arena (30 Ekim 2001) ve Kuruçeşme Arena'da (30 Temmuz 2006) İstanbul konserleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. 6 Ekim 2008'de Berlin Olimpiyat Stadyumunda gerçekleşen basın toplantısı açıklaması sonrası, Depeche Mode'un 12. albümü 'Sounds of the Universe' 2009 yılının Nisan ayında yayımlandı. Bu albümünden çıkan ilk single 'Wrong' olmuştur. Depeche Mode'un 'Tour of the Universe' adlı turne kapsamındaki İstanbul konseri 14 Mayıs 2009 tarihinde gerçekleşmesi planlanırken, Dave Gahan'ın 12 Mayıs 2009 tarihindeki Atina konseri öncesi hastalanması sonucu iptal edildi. Albümün ikinci single'ı 'Peace', 2009 yılının Haziran ayında yayımlanmıştır. Albümün son single'ı ise 'Fragile Tension/Hole To Feed' olmuştur.

2010'lar

Depeche Mode, 2011 yılının Haziran ayında ikinci 'Remixes 2: 81–11' albümünü yayımladı. 30 Mayıs 2011'de albümün ilk single'ı 'Personal Jesus 2011' piyasaya çıkmıştır. 23 Ekim 2012 tarihinde grubun Paris'te düzenlediği basın toplantısında, 2013 yılı Avrupa turu kapsamındaki konser programı açıklandı.

Depeche Mode'un 13. stüdyo albümü 'Delta Machine' 26 Mart 2013 tarihinde yayımlandı. Albümde 13 şarkı bulunurken, albümün ilk single'ı olan 'Heaven' adlı şarkının videosu 1 Şubat 2013'te ekranlarda gösterime girdi. Albümün ikinci single'ı ise, "Soothe My Soul' adlı parçadır. 17 Mayıs 2013 tarihinde gerçekleşmesi gereken İstanbul konseri, konser ekipmanlarını taşıyan tırların Bulgaristan gümrüğündeki grev sebebiyle İstanbul'a vaktinde ulaşamadığı için önce ertelendi, daha sonraki günlerde ise iptal edildiği açıklandı.

Delta Machine albümününden çıkan 3. single 'Should Be Higher', 11 Ekim 2013'te yayımlandı. Şarkının videosu Anton Corbijn tarafından çekilmiş olup, grubun Delta Machine Tur kapsamındaki Berlin, Leipzig ve Münih konserlerindeki görüntülerinden derlenmiştir. Delta Machine Tur'un 22 Ağustos 2013'te Clarkston'da başlayan Kuzey Amerika turnesi, 11 Ekim 2013 tarihinde Austin City Limits Müzik festivalinde verdikleri son konserle sona ermiştir.

Depeche Mode, 3 Kasım 2013'te Formula 1'in Abu Dabi yarışı sonrası gerçekleşen özel bir konser ile son albüm turnesine devam etti. Delta Machine Tur konserleri, 7 Mart 2014'te Moskova'da gerçekleşen son konserle sona erdi.

2010'ların son albümü Spirit, 2017 yılında yayımlanmıştır.

2020'ler

Günümüzdeki kadrosu, 2022'de Andy Fletcher'ın ölümünden sonra, Dave Gahan ve Martin L. Gore'dan oluşmaktadır.

Mart 2023'te yayınlanan albümleri Memento Mori'nin kayıtları Andy Fletcher hâlâ hayatta iken başladı.
