Plodna tela Agaricomycetes su izuzetno retka u fosilnim zapisima, i klasa ne prethodi ranoj kredi (pre 146–100 miliona godina).[9] Najstariji fosil Agaricomycetes, koji datira iz donje krede (130–125 Ma) je Quatsinoporites. To je fragment poroidnog plodnog tela sa karakteristikama koje sugerišu da bi mogao biti član porodice Hymenochaetaceae.[10] Na osnovu analize molekularnog sata, procenjuje se da su Agaricomycetes stari oko 290 miliona godina.[11]
