Klimatické zmeny

Klimatické zmeny (iné názvy: zmeny klímy, zmeny podnebia; zmena klímy, klimatická zmena, zmena podnebia) sú prirodzené či antropogénne zmeny klímy Zeme väčšie než kolísanie klímy, a to buď Zeme ako celku alebo len nejakého regiónu. Niektorí autori (napr. sčasti IPCC) rozlišujú medzi pojmami:

  • klimatické zmeny/zmeny klímy/zmeny podnebia (t.j. v množnom čísle) - len prirodzená zmena (resp. zmeny) priebehu klímy v dejinách Zeme;
  • klimatická zmena/zmena klímy/zmena podnebia (t.j. v jednotnom čísle) - súčasná antropogénna zmena klímy, ktorá sa začala zhruba v 18. storočí (priemyselná revolúcia), súvisí so skleníkovým efektom, a ktorej hlavným prvkom je globálne otepľovanie

Problémom takéhoto delenia je (popri čisto jazykovej problematickosti) skutočnosť, že nie je jasné, kam patria antropogénne zmeny klímy do 18. storočia.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

Charakteristika

Pod zmenami klímy prirodzeného charakteru rozumieme najmä zmeny v minulých geologických dobách Zeme (milióny až stovky miliónov rokov), ľadové a medziľadové doby (desaťtisíce až milióny rokov), sekulárne zmeny (stovky rokov), niekedy aj nízkofrekvenčné kolísanie klímy (desiatky rokov).

Zmeny klímy boli v minulosti podmienené driftom kontinentov, osciláciami v orbite Zeme (tzv. Milankovičove cykly), kolísaním solárnej konštanty, zmenami koncentrácie oxidu uhličitého v atmosfére, pádom obrovských meteoritov, mohutnými vulkanickými erupciami a pod. Zmeny podnebia ovplyvňovali aj vývoj ľudskej civilizácie. Ľudia na nich reagovali prispôsobením sa alebo sťahovaním sa na iné miesta. Počas poslednej doby ľadovej poklesli hladiny morí a ľudia mohli putovať medzi jednotlivými kontinentmi. Zem bola vystavená mnohým prírodným zmenám a katastrofám. Patrí medzi nich napríklad malá doba ľadová, ktorú zažila Európa na začiatku stredoveku.
