George Washington DeLong (* 22. august 1844 – † 31. október 1881) bol americký námorný dôstojník a nešťastný bádateľ.

Narodil sa v New York City, študoval na americkej námornej akadémii v Annapolise. V roku 1879 na podnet Jamesa Gordona Bennetta Jr., majiteľa novín New York Herald, a pod záštitou amerického námorníctva, vyplával poručík DeLong zo San Francisca na lodi USS Jeannette s plánom nájsť čo najrýchlejšiu cestu na Severný pól cez Beringov prieliv.

Popri zbieraní vedeckých dát a zvieracích exemplárov, v lete 1881 DeLong objavil tri ostrovy (DeLongove ostrovy).

Loď narazila na ľad a nakoniec bola zničená a skončila na dne. DeLong a jeho posádka opustili loď a vydali sa na Sibír na troch malých loďkách. Po preplavení otvoreného mora prišli samostatne a jedna loď sa stratila, dodnes nebola nájdená. DeLongova loď dorazila na pevninu ale len dvaja muži ktorý išli pre pomoc prežili. Tretia loď pod vedením George W. Melvilla dorazila k delte rieky Lena a bola zachránená. DeLong zomrel na podvýživu blízko Mat Vay na Sibíri. Mellvile sa o rok neskôr vrátil a našiel DeLongove telo, aj telá ostatných z jeho posádky. Plavba si vyžiadala život 19. členov expedície, ako aj ďalších stratených mužov počas výskumov.

V 1890 dôstojníci americkej armády venovali k pamiatke DeLonga a posádky USS Jeannette žulovo-mramorový pomník. Pomník navrhol George Partridge Colvocoresses. 24 stôp vysoká stavba sa nachádza na cintoríne americkej námornej akadémie, čnejúc sa na rieke Severn.

Dve americké námorné lode boli na jeho česť pomenované USS DeLong, takisto aj DeLongove vrchy na severozápade Aljašky.

De Long a päť jeho mužov sú pochovaný na Woodlawnskom cintoríne v Bronxe, v New Yorku.
