X.AI Corp. is a company founded by Elon Musk. It was founded on March 9, 2023[12] in America. It exists in the artificial intelligence (AI), social media and technology spaces. It is a fully owned subsidiary by the company SpaceX, another Elon Musk company.[13][14]
xAI has also used its Grok models to launch Grokipedia, a competitor for Wikipedia, however it is not a separate model. Grokipedia is an "AI powered wikipedia" that is powered by AI. It aims to be unbiased and not political, or controlled by any single political wing. This means it does not want to be biased towards left or right wing politics or other ideologies and it claims to want to do this by being powered by AI.[15]
Grok
Grok version 4 is currently the flagship model as of 2026.
Grok has been able to generate art and other images from user prompts since August 2024.
On May 2024, the first ever update to Grok increased the context (prompt) limit to 128,000 characters. It is said that the update increased performance in math and science related topics. Improvements were made to Grok again in both August 2024 and February 2025 to make it respond faster. Updates in July 2025 finally saw real-time features which let Grok help users as they searched.
