Werner Goldberg (3 October 1919 – 28 September 2004) was a German Heer soldier who served in the Wehrmacht during World War II.[1] He later became a politician in West Germany. He is best known for a picture of him which appeared in the Berliner Tageblatt, as "The Ideal German Soldier". He was of half Jewish ancestry.[2] From 1959 to 1979, he was a member of the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin after joining the Christian Democratic Union.
