The first series of the British school drama series Waterloo Road was shown on BBC One , It was shown from 9 March 2006 to 27 April 2006. It has 8 half-hour episodes. It was created by Ann McManus and Maureen Chadwick .
It is the first series to be filmed at the old Hill Top Community Primary School building[ 1] [ 2] in Rochdale , England .[ 3] [ 4] [ 5]
The series
The show follows the lives of the teachers and the pupils at Waterloo Road, a failing comprehensive school .
The school has a lot of problems such as drink driving , underage driving , bullying , homosexuality , marital problems , exclusion , Huntington's disease , teenage pregnancy , abortion , bereavement , sexual harassment , mental illness and suicide .
