"The Italian Bob " is the 8th episode of The Simpsons ' 17th season . It was first broadcast on the Fox network on December 11, 2005.[ 3] The episode was written by John Frink .[ 1] Mark Kirkland is the director of the episode.[ 1] The episode is about the Simpson family going to Italy . They learn that Sideshow Bob is the mayor of a town in Italy.[ 4]
Kelsey Grammer guest stars as Sideshow Bob.[ 1] Maria Grazia Cucinotta guest stars as Bob's wife, Francesca Terwilliger.[ 2] About 10.39 million people watched the episode when it was first broadcast[ 5] Grammer was given an Emmy Award in 2006 for being the voice actor of Sideshow Bob in the episode.[ 6] John Frink got a Writers Guild of America Award for writing the episode.[ 7]
