Text is a Polish software company based in Wrocław, Poland. It was previously called LiveChat Software. The company develops software for customer service, business communication, and artificial intelligence.[1]

Its products include LiveChat, ChatBot, HelpDesk, Knowledge Base, and OpenWidget. The company is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.[2]

History

The company was founded in Wrocław in 2002 as LiveChat. At first, it mainly developed live chat software for businesses.

In 2006, Capital Partners bought 50% of the company. In 2008, the shares were sold to Gadu-Gadu, which made LiveChat part of the Naspers group.[3]

In 2011, the company's founders and managers bought back a controlling share of the business. They worked with the private equity company Tar Heel Capital to buy the 60% share owned by Naspers.[4]

LiveChat Software joined the Warsaw Stock Exchange in April 2014.[5]

In 2023, LiveChat Software changed its name to Text. The company said the new name reflected its wider product range and its growing focus on artificial intelligence and e-commerce.[6]

The company has offices in Wrocław and Boston, Massachusetts, and serves customers in many countries.[6]
