Use this template on the talk page of permanently protected pages. Use {{temprot}} on the talk page of temporarily protected pages.
If the template in question does not have a /doc page, and the {{permprot}} does not have a nodoc parameter, then the talk page will be categorized in Category:Templates needing documentation pages.
Use {{Permprot|reason=as it is blah}} to choose a custom reason in the first sentence.
