diagnosis
I think this page has accidentally fallen between several stools. You can't deal with the common fig, the actual tree, the edible fruits, the insects, the genus of 800 species and so on in one page. Looking at En wiki, you will see that it distinguishes between the common fig (Ficus carica) and the genus of 850 species. We don't have a page titled "common fig" (!)
