Ixodes persulcatus, the taiga tick, is a species of hard-bodied tick. It can be found from Europe through central and northern Asia to China and Japan.[1]
In 2023, the species was also found in Norway.[2]
Transmission (or spreading) of disease (or sickness)
Ixodes persulcatus ticks can transmit
- Lyme disease,
- relapsing fever (Borrelia miyamotoi),
- babesiosis,
- Siberian (TBEV-Sib) and Far Eastern (TBEV-FE) tick-borne encephalitis,[1][3]
- and probably human granulocytic anaplasmosis[4]
