Subsoil

Subsoil is a kind of soil that can be found under the first layer of soil. It is mainly made up of sand, silt, and clay. It is an important component in tree anchorage, and because of water-logging it can help vegetation survive drought and such.[1] It is important in respect to the foundation of structures and buildings.[2]
