The Stefania tree frog or Sarisariñama carrying frog (Stefania riae) is a frog. It lives in Venezuela.[2][3][1]

Home

This frog is awake at night. People see it on plant branches between 0.3 and 1.5 m (1 ft 0 in and 4 ft 11 in) above the ground. They also see it on sandstone if the stone is near a waterfall. The waterfall puts water on the sandstone, so that moss grows on it. Then the frogs sit on the moss. This frog lives in the same place as other amphibians and reptiles: Osteocephalus taurinus, Pristimantis sarisarinama, Gonatodes superciliaris, and Anolis ortonii. Scientists found this frog in between 1,100 to 1,400 m (3,600 to 4,600 ft) above sea level.[2][1]

Scientists have only seen this frog in Jaua-Sarisariñama National Park, a protected place.[1]

Young

The female frogs carry their eggs on their backs. The eggs hatch into small froglets, not tadpoles.[1]

Danger

Scientists from the IUCN say this frog is in some danger of dying out. Climate change could hurt this frog by changing the water in the air and the plants. Viruses, bacteria, and fungi could also hurt this frog by making it sick.[1]
