Stefan Wyszyński (3 August 1901 – 28 May 1981)[1] was a Polish Roman Catholic prelate who served as the Primate of Poland and Archbishop of Warsaw from 1948 until his death in 1981. He was made a Cardinal in 1953 and was beatified in 2021.
Wyszyński was appointed the Bishop of Lublin in 1946 and consecrated by Cardinal August Hlond. In 1948, he became the Archbishop of Warsaw and Gniezno and was named the Primate of Poland. Pope Pius XII made him a cardinal in 1953. He played a significant role in opposing the communist regime in Poland.[2][3]
