Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones is an American science fiction movie produced by Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox. This is the fifth movie that George Lucas made in the Star Wars series. It shows the reasons why Anakin Skywalker eventually became Darth Vader.[1]
Story
Ten years after the previous movie, the Galactic Republic and the Jedi are facing a political crisis, as many planets want to leave the Republic and join the Separatist Alliance, which is led by Count Dooku, a former Jedi.
Senator Padmé Amidala is nearly killed by an unknown assassin, and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine assigns a young Jedi knight - Anakin Skywalker - to protect her. Anakin and Padmé haven't seen each other for ten years. They travel to Naboo, which is a safe planet. Anakin falls in love with Senator Padmé.
Meanwhile, Anakin's friend Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi tracks the assassin, Jango Fett, to a planet called Kamino. Obi-Wan discovers that on Kamino, an army of clone soldiers is being made for the Republic, but there is confusion about who commissioned them. He also finds out that Jango Fett's DNA is being used to create the clones.
Anakin begins to have dreams of his mother dying so he travels back to Tatooine with Padmé and finds his mother, who has been tortured by alien savages. Anakin's mother dies, causing Anakin to briefly turn to the Dark Side and kill all of the savages, something a Jedi is forbidden from doing.
Jango Fett tries to escape to a remote desert planet called Geonosis but Obi-Wan follows him. Obi-Wan finds out that Jango Fett is working for Count Dooku, a former Jedi. Dooku is the leader of the Separatists, a group of planets who want to leave the Galactic Republic. Obi-Wan also finds out that Nute Gunray, Poggle the Lesser and several other corrupt businessmen are giving money to the Separatists so that they can create an army of battle droids (robots).
Obi-Wan sends a distress signal to Anakin and Padmé and he is captured. Anakin and Padmé arrive on Geonosis but they are also captured by Jango Fett. The three of them are sentenced to death in an arena, watched by thousands of insect-like aliens called Geonosians. Luckily, Mace Windu and hundreds of Jedi arrive to save them. The Separatists reveal their droid army and they surround the Jedi.
Suddenly, Yoda arrives with the clone soldiers and they fight the Separatists. Dooku manages to escape Geonosis. Dooku returns to Coruscant, where he meets his evil master Darth Sidious, (who is actually Chancellor Palpatine). Dooku tells Sidious that their plan is working, implying to the audience that Dooku and Palpatine were the ones who asked the Kaminoans for the clone army so that they could start a war. Anakin and Padmé get married secretly while the Republic and the Jedi prepare their clone troopers prepare to go to war with the Separatists.
