Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) is a public community college in Santa Barbara, California. It opened in 1909 and is located on a 74-acre (30 ha) campus.
Background
Santa Barbara City College was started by the Santa Barbara High School District in 1909. It made it one of the oldest community colleges in California. However, not long after World War I ended, the college was closed. The education and programs the college offered were mostly handled by the Santa Barbara State Normal School. This school later changed its name to the Santa Barbara State College and eventually became the University of California, Santa Barbara.[3]
