Sagarmatha National Park

Sagarmatha National Park is a national park at the eastern part of Nepal. It is named after sagarmatha, which is another name for Mt. Everest. It covers an area of 1,148 km2 (443 sq mi) which is mostly occupied by Mt. Everest. It was established in 1976 and was made World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979.[1] In January 2002, a Buffer Zone comprising 275 km2 (106 sq mi) was added to the old Sagarmatha National Park Zone. [2]
