Rubidium bromide

Rubidium bromide is an ionic compound made of rubidium and bromide ions. The chemical formula is RbBr. It has a molar mass of around 165.372 g/mol. It is made when rubidium (metal or basic compound) reacts with bromine or hydrobromic acid.[1][2]

Formation of rubidium bromide

It can be made when rubidium metal reacts with liquid bromine to make rubidium bromide.

The balanced chemical equation is:
2Rb + Br2 → 2RbBr

It can also be made when rubidium hydroxide reacts with hydrobromic acid to make rubidium bromide and water.

The balanced chemical equation is:
RbOH + HBr → RbBr + H2O
