Robert Maynard Pirsig (September 6, 1928 – April 24, 2017)[ 1] was an American writer and philosopher .[ 2] He is known for writing many philosophy books . They include: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values (1974) and Lila: An Inquiry into Morals (1991).
Pirsig was born in Minneapolis , Minnesota . He died on April 24, 2017 at his home in South Berwick , Maine from a long-illness, aged 88.[ 3]
