RAYA

RAYA is a Filipino girl group. They perform P-Pop (Philippine pop music) under the broader category of OPM (Original Pilipino Music). The group has nine members and is under Viva Records and Viva Artists Agency. The members are Abel, Anna, Ash, Aviona, Jemima, Kash, Priscilla, Rona, and Sofia.[1][2]

The group is often called the "Gems of P-Pop" (Philippine Pop).[3][4][5][6]

Their name comes from the old Filipino word hiraya, which means "hopes, dreams, and aspirations."[2] They started officially on April 15, 2025, with their first song, "Bling!".[4]

History

2024–2025: Beginning

RAYA was formed in late 2024. Viva Artists Agency (VAA) chose the members through auditions and talent searches.[2][7]

During their formation, the group established their official identity around the concept of Navaratna, a Sanskrit word meaning "nine gems," leading them to be dubbed the "Gems of P-Pop". Under this imagery, each of the nine members represents a different gemstone with her own unique traits and personality.[3][4][8][9]

The group was first shown to the public at the "PPop It Up!" show at the Viva Cafe. There, they sang covers of modern songs.[7]

On January 17, 2025, RAYA released a promotional song before their official debut. It was a new P-pop version of the classic Filipino song "Bongga Ka Day".[4][10][11]

2025–present: Debut and growing success

The group officially started in the Pinoy Pop (P-pop) music scene on April 15, 2025, with their first song "Bling!".[4][12] The song is about girl power, confidence, and self-worth. It mixes fast pop music with strong hip-hop beats.[2][13] On April 26, 2025, they released the official music video for "Bling!". They first showed it to fans at the Viva Cafe in Cubao, Quezon City.[4] The song became popular quickly. It got over 400,000 streams on Spotify and entered the Viral 50 Philippines chart.[14]

Later in 2025, RAYA released another song called "Diva Diba".[15] In January 2026, they performed as a main young act at the Hiraya Night Sky Festival. Around the same time, they released a new song called "Get Me".[14][16][17]

Artistry and concept

The name "RAYA" comes from the old Filipino word hiraya. It means "hopes, dreams, and aspirations."[2][4] The members chose a shorter version of the word. They wanted to show their goal of helping young people stay strong through hard times.[2]

RAYA plays modern P-pop and OPM. Their music has dance-pop and hip hop sounds. The members help create their music. When making the song "Bling!", they changed some English rap parts into Tagalog. They did this to fit their style and to show female empowerment.[2]
