Péter Erdő (Hungarian: Erdő Péter, pronounced [ˈɛrdøː ˈpeːtɛr]; born 25 June 1952) is a Hungarian Cardinal of the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church. He has been the Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest and Primate of Hungary since 2003.
Erdő had been mentioned as a possible candidate to be elected pope during the 2013 papal conclave.[1]
He was elected a member of the Academia Europaea in 2012.[2]
