A pumyat or pumyaat (/poom-yaat/) is a traditional Meitei dress, worn by menfolk on special occasions. It is popularly worn in ceremonial occasions as a common dress in Manipur, North East India. It is mainly white in colour.[1] Typically, a pumyat is a shirt with long sleeves.[2][3]
In Meitei culture, a pumyat should always pairs with a pheichom (pheijom). This is also a common to the wedding bridegrooms in Meitei matrimony, with the addition of a kokyet (headdress). It is slightly similar to the kurtas, worn by the mainland Indian menfolk.
