PlagiarismCheck.org is a web-based text originality verification platform launched in 2011.[1] The platform is used in higher education, publishing, marketing, and recruitment to analyze the originality, authenticity, and AI traces of written content.[2][3]

Overview

PlagiarismCheck.org was established in 2011 as a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform for plagiarism detection, allowing educational institutions to maintain academic integrity.[1][4]

By 2025, it is used in academia, SEO, content marketing, and recruitment. The company served over 800,000 users in 72 countries, with more than 9.3 million documents analyzed.[5]

It provides several tools for text analysis, including originality checking software, an AI-generated text detector called TraceGPT, grammar checking functionality and fingerprint authorship verification. Tools also include browser extensions such as a TraceGPT Chrome extension.[5][6]

PlagiarismCheck.org supports API integration with learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Moodle, Brightspace, Populi, Schoology, and Google Classroom.[7][8] After analysis, the system creates a report showing the similarity score–a percentage of the match with external sources the tool finds while scanning; highlighted potentially problematic parts of the text, and the links to the sources where matching content has been detected.[9][10]
