Peter Heinz Hermann Duesberg (2 December 1936 – 13 January 2026) was a German-American molecular biologist. He was a professor of molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley. He was known for his early research into the genetic parts of cancer. He was also known for his belief that HIV does not cause AIDS.[1][2] He became well known for his research on oncogenes and cancer.[3][4]

Duesberg died on 13 January 2026 in Berkeley, California from problems caused by a stroke at the age of 89.[5]
