Paul of Thebes, commonly known as Paul, the First Hermit or Paul the Anchorite (Egyptian Arabic: Anba Bola; Coptic: Ⲁⲃⲃⲁ Ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲉ; c. 227 – c. 341), was an Egyptian saint. He is thought to be the first Christianhermit. He said that he lived alone in the desert of Egypt from 16 years old to 113 years old. He seen as a saint by the Catholic Church as well as the Orthodox Church.[3][4]
