Paolo Savona (born 6 October 1936) is an Italian economist, professor,[1][2] and politician. He was born in Cagliari, Italy. Savona was the Italian Minister of European Affairs from 1 June 2018 until 8 March 2019. He is a Eurosceptic.[3] From 1993 to 1993, Savona was the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Craftmanship.
In 2018, Savona was nominated to serve as Minister of Economy and Finance by the Five Star Movement.[4] However, the nomination did not go through because President Sergio Mattarella was against it.[5]
