Nikolas Freund (* 14 April 2007 in Hallein) is an Austrian football player. He plays as midfielder for the 2nd league club FC Liefering.
Career
Freund began his career at FC Red Bull Salzburg. From the 2021/22 season onward, he played in all age groups in the Salzburg academy.
In April 2025, he made his debut for FC Liefering, in the Austrian Second Division. He came in as a substitute for Tolgahan Sahin in the 85th minute of the 25th matchday of the 2024/25 season against SKN St. Pölten. [1] In June 2026 he went on to FC Hertha Wels. [2]
International
He played five times for the Austrian U-16 national team between September 2022 and May 2023. [3]
Personal life
He is the son of FC Bayern Munich's sporting director, Christoph Freund.
