Nicole Johnson (born January 9, 1974) is an American beauty queen, author, public health professional and activist. She was crowned Miss America 1999 in September 1998. Before that, she was Miss Virginia 1998.[1] She was the first Miss America with diabetes. She was also the first contestant to publicize the use of an insulin pump.[2]
Johnson works for diabetes treatment, research and education. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1993.
Johnson also appeared in several television shows and movies.
